Wgntv – His son, Kelly Christopher Amos, shared the news in statements to multiple outlets.
“He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor,” he said, in part.
Amos died of natural causes in Los Angeles, reports say. Amos’ publicist, Belinda Foster, confirmed the news of his death Tuesday.
Amos’ acting career spanned five decades, beginning in the 1970s with appearances on “The Bill Cosby Show” and “The Tim Conway Comedy Hour.”
“My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life…. most recently in ‘Suits LA’ playing himself and our documentary about his life journey as an actor, ‘America’s Dad.’ He was my dad, my best friend, and my hero,” his son added. “Thank you for your prayers and support at this time.”
