RawNews1st – The City of Weslaco had a Grinch creeping through our neighborhoods during the late evening hours and taking Christmas decorations from the front yards of our Weslaco home residents.
Weslaco Police Department began receiving reports of this infamous Grinch taking 3 Christmas Light-up Spiral Trees, 1 red and green Vintage Christmas Inflatable, 1 set of Home Accents Holiday 6’5″ Inflatable Nativity scene, and A Dallas Cowboys Inflatable Helmet.
Weslaco Police is glad to report that on Friday, December 2, 2022, at approximately 12:24 PM.
The Weslaco Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division was able to identify and arrest 43-year-old Joel Pedraza from Weslaco. Pedraza is accused of walking up to residents’ front yards and taking their Christmas decorations without consent during the night hours.

Joel Pedraza was charged with two counts of Theft of Property <$2,500 2/More Previous Convictions (Enhanced to State Jail Felonies).
Today Saturday, December 3, 2022, Joel Pedraza, with a date of birth of 12-11-1978, was arraigned by the City of Weslaco Municipal Judge Juan Alvarez and received a $20,000 cash surety bond on each count.
Joel Pedraza was later transferred to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
