Mixon, 26, faces up to six months in jail and a maximum $1,000 fine under Ohio law for a first-degree misdemeanor.
Police originally issued an arrest warrant for Mixon on Feb. 2, but the charges were later dropped. Charges were refiled on April 7 after new evidence came to light. Police claim Mixon allegedly pointed a gun at a woman during a road rage incident in January and said, “You should be popped in the face, I should shoot you, the police [can’t] get me.”
Mixon was wrapped up in another gun-related incident a month after these allegations. Police were called to Mixon’s residence on March 6 after a teenager was reportedly shot on the premise. Mixon was later cleared as a suspect and faced no charges, but his sister and her boyfriend were both indicted on multiple charges.
The future of Mixon on the Bengals also remains a big question mark heading into the 2023 season. Mixon will make at least $9 million in base salary in each of the next two seasons, per Over The Cap, and is coming off his worst season since his rookie year.
Quarterback Joe Burrow is eligible for an extension this summer, wide receiver Tee Higgins will be an impending free agent after this season and receiver Ja’Marr Chase will be in-line for a new deal next offseason. The Bengals will reportedly ask Mixon to take a pay cut or release him, according to The Athletic’s Paul Deher Jr.
