James Gerald Thaggard (57) was arrested and charged with another count of False Pretense and one count of Grand Larceny on Friday, July 22, 2022, after GCSO Investigators were able to develop information on a report that had been filed in April of this year.
In that report, the victim stated that he had paid Thaggard a sum of money for work to be performed on a vehicle, including paint and body work.
However, the victim advised in his report that no parts were supplied and, in fact, he received only part of the vehicle back.
After further investigation, warrants for Felony False Pretense and Grand Larceny were issued, and Thaggard was arrested at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The Mississippi Department of Correction (MDOC) has also issued a Probation Revocation Warrant for Thaggard, and he is currently in custody at the George County Regional Correctional Facility awaiting an initial appearance before a George County Justice Court Judge.
In conjunction with the Lucedale Police Department, GCSO Deputies and Investigators served another warrant on Friday for Armed Robbery, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault, arresting Devin Dewayne Williams (44) after receiving a tip on his whereabouts.
Williams is currently in custody at the GCRCF awaiting an initial appearance before a Lucedale Municipal Court Judge. He also has an MDOC hold for Probation Revocation.
On Sunday, July 17, 2022, an individual contacted the GCSO to report a 2018 Chevrolet 1500 stolen from the Benndale area of George County.
Through further investigation, the vehicle was located on Friday, July 22nd, in the Desoto National Forest area of Stone County, MS, and recovered by GCSO Investigators.
This case is still pending, and no arrests have been made as of this date.
