A Lenawee County jury found James Allan guilty of second-degree murder in September after a two-year investigation into the death of Amy Allan, according to Michigan State Police.
James Allan called 911 on Sept. 14, 2018, saying he found his wife hanging by an electrical cord from the basement ceiling, police said. When first responders arrived, Allan said he had taken her body down and was performing CPR.
That investigation developed scientific evidence that “directly refuted” the claim that Amy Allan was found hanging in her basement, police said.
The Tecumseh Police Department found “numerous suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death and handed the case over to Michigan State Police.
