Israel delays Covid Green Pass update: Health system crashes under massive traffic
Israel’s plan to reissue coronavirus Green Passes, for those who’ve had booster shots only, has been delayed due to a traffic overload which crashed the website.
Under the new rules that came into force on Sunday, all green passes were to be voided.
Every resident in Israel then had to re-register to maintain access to public venues – including restaurants and gyms.
However, there was a catch: only those who had received their third, booster shot, or who’d had their second jab within the past six months, would have been eligible to renew, meaning between 1.5 and 1.7 million people were due to lose their Green Pass privileges.
