In the second quarter of 2025, Roblox had 39.7 million daily active users under the age of 13. This figure represents a substantial portion of the platform’s total user base, which reached 88.9 million daily active users overall. While the majority of users are over 13, a significant number of children actively engage with the platform according to Takeaway Reality.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Information has asked the Ministry of Communications to block the online game Roblox, citing its potential dangers to children, according to Al Qabas Arabic-language newspaper.
The decision comes after repeated calls and complaints from large segments of the public, who argued that the game contradicts moral values and social customs, contains scenes of bloody violence, and promotes aggression and inappropriate behavior.
In 2023, Roblox reported over 13,300 instances of child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), a significant increase from the previous year, possibly due to improved detection and moderation by Roblox.
Independent Investigations: Organizations like Bloomberg Businessweek have conducted investigations and found evidence of child exploitation on the platform, highlighting arrests and ongoing concerns about Roblox’s moderation policies and the effectiveness of its safety measures.
Lawsuits: Roblox is facing lawsuits, including one from the Louisiana Attorney General, alleging that the platform has failed to protect children from predators. In response, Roblox announced stricter rules, more precise age verification, and improved automated detection systems.
Roblox shutdown rumors spread online after a viral post claimed the platform would close on September 1, 2025. The message appeared official and created confusion among millions of users. It stated Roblox would shut down due to safety issues and community demand.
