Over the past few weeks, we have seen an increase in vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts.
Along with these types of crimes, numerous valuables have been stolen from inside the vehicles, along with firearms.
Our Criminal Investigation Division has been working hard to solve these crimes. With the help of our Patrol Division, we have made one juvenile arrest who was charged with numerous counts of Breaking or Entering into a vehicle, Vehicle Theft, and Theft of Firearms.
The juvenile was taken and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
They have also made one adult arrest, Brandon Wagstaff, an eighteen-year-old male from New Boston, Texas who was charged with two counts of Breaking or Entering into a Vehicle. Mr. Wagstaff was booked into the Miller County Jail.
The Criminal Investigation Division currently has active felony warrants for two juveniles of the same criminal activity.
There is also an active warrant for one adult, Ladonta Davis, a nineteen-year-old male from Texarkana, Arkansas.
The charges on the warrant consist of Theft by Receiving and Fleeing by Vehicle with the Risk of Death or Serious Physical Injury.
This criminal activity is occurring in random areas of our city.
The criminals are preying on those leaving their vehicles unlocked and valuables inside their cars which can be seen in plain sight.
When your vehicle is locked, but you have left a purse, wallet, or firearm, the criminal is compelled to break into your vehicle for their gain and your loss. Our patrol officers and detectives work hard to hold those accountable for committing crimes.
We will continue to remind our community to lock their vehicles and remove their valuables to bring awareness to how huge this one small action is on everyone’s part when you exit your cars.
We want everyone to keep what belongs to you, but it also starts with you.
