Federal prosecutors say a member of the Indian Brotherhood Gang, has pleaded guilty in connection to two homicides, one in 2015 and one in 2017.
Court documents say Matthew Armstrong, received orders from the Indian Brotherhood in May of 2015, to question a guy named Scott Candler, about an unrelated homicide.
They say Armstrong went to Candler’s home with a gun to question, scare, and assault Candler.
They say Armstrong was with a guy named John Knight, a fellow IBH gang member, who also had a gun.
They say outside Candler’s home, Armstrong fired two shots when Candler’s dogs ran out, while Knight, went inside and fired one shot at Candler, killing him.
The plea agreement says in 2017, Armstrong was involved in smuggling meth for the gang into various prisons and jails.
In April of 2017, Armstrong got into it with Nicole Owl, who was staying at his home.
They say Armstrong and a guy named Nicholas Faulkner, took Owl into a wooded area behind the home where Armstrong tied her to a tree and left her there for several hours, before returning with a rifle.
Armstrong asked Faulkner if he wanted to shoot Owl, and when Faulkner said “no,” Armstrong shot her twice and killed her.
For Candler’s death, Armstrong pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to do bodily harm and discharge of a gun during a crime of violence.
For Owl’s death, Armstrong pleaded guilty to murder, kidnapping, and possession with intent to distribute meth.
Those are now convictions and he’ll be sentenced at a later date.
For Candler’s murder, Knight was charged with murder and discharging a gun during a crime of violence and he’s set for trial in January of 2022, so that is not a conviction.
For Owl’s murder, Faulkner pleaded guilty to kidnapping and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
That is now a conviction and he’ll also be sentenced at a later date.
