A meteor was spotted by aircraft over South Texas tonight as residents reported hearing a loud explosion and shaking homes.
Houston Air Traffic Control got reports from two aircraft that claimed to have seen the flying matter west of McAllen on Wednesday night.
The National Weather Service shared images from a satellite tool that detected lightning from space at around the time the meteorite was spotted
The satellite detected the signal at 5.23pm despite there being no storms in the area and weather experts are now working to verify if the tool captured the meteorite
