The cost: free.

Apple has a hot new offer: iPhone fans can now update their phones with the release of iOS 18.5, which dropped into devices on Monday (May 12, 2025).

This update isn’t just another small patch — the tech media sees it as a substantial leap forward packed with new features, improvements, and a touch of the unexpected.

Just make sure you free up some GBs, especially if you’re phone is relatively older (with loads of big video files).

This update, though, is “hot” in the digital sense. For one, it now offers Starlink connectivity even with a relatively older, or legacy, phone.

What it means: With the latest Apple-SpaceX tech partnership, iOS 18.5 now includes easy access to Starlink satellite internet.

MacRumors reported iOS 18.5 was released alongside iPadOS 18.5, the fifth updates to the iOS18 and iPadOSoperating systems since September, and were just over a month after Apple released version 18.4 for its smartphones and iPads.
