Authorities in Covington are working an active hostage situation, according to the Tipton County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department said an armed man is holding one or more people hostage in a business in a strip mall on Highway U.S. 51 South near Bert Johnston Ave.
The Tipton County Sheriff’s Department and Covington Police are currently on the scene.
It’s unclear at this time what led to the hostage situation or exactly how many people are being held.
