A homeless man has admitted to beating and killing a 19-year-old woman whose body was found wrapped in plastic at the South Street Seaport on Saturday, according to cops and police sources.
Austin Boehm, 25, made the confession to detectives after he attempted to check himself into Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric ward Saturday, sources said Sunday.
Police identified the slain Fulton Fish Market victim as Rosalee Sanchez, who was also homeless.
The motive for the murder was not immediately clear.
Police said a second homeless suspect, Christian Mercado, 20, also has been charged in the case.
Both men face second-degree murder raps.
Police tracked down the suspects after a 911 caller said his friend, known as “Zozo,” took him into the abandoned Fulton Fish Market building to show him the victim’s body and identified Boehm as the killer, sources said.
The dead woman’s boyfriend and another pal found her corpse on the second-floor staircase of 95 South St. near the FDR Drive, cops and sources said.
Locals said homeless people have long since taken over the building — once a vital part of the South Street Seaport’s bustling fish market, which relocated to The Bronx in 2005.
