Homeless Encampment in Minneapolis Cleared by Police in the Middle of Winter
A large presence of police cleared the The Quarry shopping center encampment of unhoused people in Minneapolis on Friday (Dec. 30) morning in the middle of winter.
Homeless residents were reportedly not allowed to grab their belongings and now have nowhere to go.
The City of Minneapolis had planned to clear the encampment on Wednesday (Dec. 29) morning but told FOX 9 it held off because there was allegedly an “intention to have a violent confrontation with city staff over this encampment” from those who called the encampment home.
Those living in the encampment held a news conference on Tuesday (Dec. 28) calling on the city to leave them alone during extreme weather.
