LSP said that Billy Pilgrim, 38, of Pineville, was arrested and booked into the Grant Parish Detention Center for computer-aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Bond was set at $75,000.
At the time of his arrest, Pilgrim was employed with the Rapides Parish School Board. News Channel 5 reached out to RPSB for more information. They provided the following statement:
RPSB was notified that an employee of Rapides High School was arrested by the Louisiana State Police. We are aware of the allegations, but none of these were brought to RPSB prior to the arrest.
We are cooperating with law enforcement as we work together to ensure our students are safe and policies and laws are followed to protect them.
We will not be able to comment any further, as this is an ongoing investigation into a personnel matter.
We are thankful for our law enforcement officials who strive to keep our schools and students safe.
