An 18-year-old Indiana high school student was found dead in a lake after going missing in a state park, officials say.
Jac-Cen-Del High School student Carson Hughes was reported missing around 1:30 p.m. Friday at Versailles State Park. WXIX reported that they found his vehicle unlocked with the keys still inside and his kayak on the water nearby.
On Sunday, Hughes’s body was located in six feet of water in Versailles Lake at approximately 6:50 p.m., WXIX reported.
According to officials, they believe he died from cold water drowning; however, no other injuries were present during his preliminary autopsy.
His final autopsy report and cause of death are pending toxicology results.
