Great Value Products Cottage Cheese Recall Pulled From Walmart

A cottage cheese recall is under way after Saputo Cheese USA Inc. voluntarily pulled three Great Value brand cottage cheese products sold at Walmart; the items were sold from Feb. 17-20, 2026 and can be returned for a full refund.
The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall Wednesday. The affected products were available at Walmart and were sold over the four-day period in mid-February.
Saputo, one of the top ten dairy processors in the world, announced Tuesday that it was removing three types of Walmart Great Value brand cottage cheese because there is a possibility the dairy ingredients used were not fully pasteurized.
Consumers who purchased the affected Great Value cottage cheese may return the products to Walmart for a full refund.
The products were distributed to 24 states, including Utah, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas and Washington.
The FDA warned that consuming products that are not fully pasteurized can pose a significant health risk, especially to the young, the elderly or immunocompromised individuals. No illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported to date, the FDA confirmed.
Shoppers are advised to check refrigerators for the Great Value cottage cheese sold Feb. 17-20, 2026 and to return any impacted tubs to Walmart for a full refund. The FDA and Saputo continue to monitor the situation as the company follows up on the pasteurizer repair and product returns.
