GPD is investigating a series of thefts from cars in the Cramer Woods and Catawba Creek subdivisions.
During one of these thefts, the suspect stole a car and used that stolen car to commit additional thefts. Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photos of the male suspect and asking for the public’s help identifying him.
The thefts, mostly from unlocked cars, occurred between June 21 and June 26.
In one of these thefts, a victim left car keys to a second vehicle in an unlocked car. Investigators believe this suspect came back a couple nights later and used the stolen car keys to steal the victim’s car.
The suspect then used the stolen car to commit additional thefts from cars in a nearby neighborhood. The suspect abandoned the stolen car in the Catawba Creek subdivision.
.Thefts from unlocked cars continue to be one of the most common calls for service to police.
GPD reminds residents that they can reduce their chance of becoming a victim of this type of crime by locking their car doors and removing any objects of value from their vehicles.
Anyone who recognizes this suspect or has information about these thefts from vehicles is asked to call GastoniaPD at 704-869-7871 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.
