Google state-sponsored hacking warnings – records 50,000 in 2021
The Big Tech company says it has sent around 50,000 alerts of state-sponsored hacking or phishing attempts to customers so far this year, a near one-third jump on the previous 12 months.
“On any given day, TAG is tracking more than 270 targeted or government-backed attacker groups from more than 50 countries.
This means that there is typically more than one threat actor behind the warnings,” Ajax Bash, a security engineer said.
Google has accused Russian hacking group Fancy Bear of being behind a large-scale phishing campaign that prompted the company to issue 14,000 warnings alone in September.
