Gerald Brevard has been arrested in connection for three shootings that took place in Washington, D.C.
Investigators believe he is responsible for two shootings that have taken place in New York City. Out of the five shooting victims, two have succumbed to their injuries. Police believe Brevard targeted the victims because they were homeless.
The first three shootings took place in Washington, D.C.On March 3, 2022, around 4:00am, police responded to a call for gunshots. When they arrived at the 1100 block of New York Avenue Northeast, they found a man who had obviously been shot. Medics rushed him to the hospital.
His wounds were not fatal. Police have not named the victim.Police responded to a call to the 1700 block of H Street Northeast, for gunshots on March 8, 2022, at 1:21 am.

A member of the Metropolitan Police Department noticed a fire on March 9, 2022, at 2:52am in 400 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. Firefighters responded and were able to douse the fire. When they search the tent that was burning, they found a deceased adult male.
The Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the man was stabbed and shot multiple times. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. Police identified the victim as Morgan Holmes, 54.
The next two shootings took place in New York City, New York
On March 12, 2022, around 4:30 am, police believe the same man responsible for the previous three attacks traveled to New York City and shot a sleeping man in the arm.
This incident took place at the intersection of King Street and Varick Street. Police responded to a 911 call that came in around 5:00pm on March 12, 2022. The caller stated there was a male who appeared to have been shot.
When police arrived, they found a deceased male, who had obvious gunshot wounds to his head and neck.
People in the area told police they heard gunshots around 6:00am the same day. On March 15, 2022, police were able to locate Brevard and arrested him in a gas station. Gerald Brevard has a record of being arrested.
In Washington D.C Brevard was arrested in 2016 for destruction of property. In 2018, he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. He was given 18 months parole. In 2019, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer and theft.
This case, along with a case from 2019, for unlawful entry, was dismissed in 2020.In Virginia, in 2020, Brevard has been arrested for abduction with the intent to defile; burglary with the intent to commit a felony; and possession of burglary.
He received a year of parole. Police arrested Brevard for the three shootings in Washington, D.C. The charges are Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; Assault with Intent to Kill; and Homicide.
