Russian Foreign Ministry: Fundamental Russia/NATO Act “No Longer Exists” if Alliance Puts Nukes East of Germany
NATO Sec-Gen Jens Stoltenberg said Friday if Berlin refuses to station NATO nuclear weapons, then they will be moved to other European countries, including in the Eastern part of the continent:
“Germany can off course decide whether there will be nuclear weapons in your country, but the alternative is that we end up with nuclear weapons in other countries in Europe also to the east of Germany.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the statement about the possible deployment of nuclear weapons swiftly:
“If he really said so, it means that for NATO, the collective voice of which is the secretary general, the fundamental Russia-NATO act no longer exists,” Deputy FM Grushko told RIA Novosti.
