Fredericksburg Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing
On Wednesday, March 16th at approximately 11:34 p.m., the Fredericksburg Police E-911 Center received a report of a person lying on the sidewalk with stab wounds in the 200 block of William Street. Patrol officers responded and located the victim who was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Officers set up a perimeter around the scene and began their investigation. During their investigation, they determined the suspect was the victim’s girlfriend, Melissa Hackney, who was still in the vicinity.
Melissa Hackney, 32, of Spotsylvania was arrested on the following charges:
• Unlawful/malicious wounding (6 counts)
• Domestic assault and battery
• Possession of schedule I/II narcotic
• Possession of a schedule IV narcotic
Hackney was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held on a secured bond.
The victim was released from the hospital yesterday, March 17th.
