RawNews1st – The first information that was given was that the inmates were on a work detail and fled from that detail but after further investigation.
It was found that the four inmates were inside one of the dorm style pods and there were contractors working in the rec yard of that pod.
When the contractors left the rec yard there was a trustee (inmate) that was with them carrying metal our of the rec yard and carrying the metal to the sally port area to work on it.
As the contractors walked to the north doors, to enter the sally port, the four inmates ran out of the pod down the hallway out of the north doors and into the sally port.
The sally port door was open for the contractors and the inmates ran out of the sally port and away from the jail.
Before running out of the jail, the inmates pushed their way past the jailers that were at the north doors leading to the sally port.
One inmate was captured immediately by an Ottawa County Detective and returned to the jail.
The other three inmates are still not accounted for.
The inmate that was caught was Rusty Reece.
The three inmates still missing are: Buck Martindale, Tyler Tavis, and Daniel Zajicek.
Rusty Reece is being charged with escape and we will be obtaining warrants on the other three.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says 4 inmates walked away from a work detail today around 3 PM.
They went east from the jail and one was caught quickly, but, three are still on the loose.
They are Daniel Zajicek, Martindale and Tyler Tavis.
