According to Fox 8, 56-year-old Eric Wilkerson received the sentence Monday for charges connected to the death of 46-year-old Brian Weems. Wilkerson was initially charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and tampering with records, the station reported, but pleaded guilty last week to amended charges which included involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
Police said the stabbing took place after the men got into an argument inside of Weems’ apartment, according to Fox 8. It said police said Wilkerson followed him into the bathroom and stabbed him multiple times.
Wilkerson played at Kent State from 1985-1989, and left as the school’s all-time leading rusher. He was the MAC’s Most Valuable Player in 1987.
He signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 1989. He was active for one regular-season game that year as well as the team’s two, postseason games. He spent the 1990 season with the Detroit Lions.
