A former pastor of a Tulsa church, has been charged with 6 counts including rapes, sexual abuse of a child and burglary.
The probable cause affidavit for Bertheophilus Bailey says the case was first reported by the victim in 2023 but at that time, she was not ready to move forward with prosecution.
It says, at that time, she had recorded a phone call with Bailey, where she confronted him about the abuse and he begged her not to tell her husband and said “the secret getting out would be a total catastrophe to the whole kingdom of God.”
It says the victim returned to police earlier this month, said she was now ready to move forward with prosecution.
It says the victim, who is now an adult, told police it started when she was when she was in 6th grade when Bailey prayed over her body and touched her privates.
She told police by middle school, it moved to sex acts.
She says when she was 16 or 17, it escalated to rape.
It says after she got married a few years ago and had a child, Bailey came into her home and pushed her down and sexually assaulted her and later, began looking in her windows.
It says there are numerous texts and emails where Bailey admits to the abuse.
It says he admitted watching videos and going from touching himself to acting out the scenes on the victim, because that’s “what people do.”
It says in one text, Bailey said he would take the secret to his grave and in another text, said, he felt ashamed and humiliated.
It says he said, “jumping from touching to sex is not a big deal for me.”
It says the victim recently made a social media post about the long years of abuse and a second victim has now come forward and police are also investigating that.
Bailey recently stepped down from his post at St. Andrew Christian Church.
These are charges, not a conviction.
