Former Cumberland County Detention Officer Arrested, Police Say

RawNews1st– The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives arrested Monique Rossetta Smith (B/F 29 YOA) for providing a cell phone to a Cumberland County Detention Center detainee.
Monique Smith was hired in January 2022 as a Detention Officer.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation into Monique Smith after a policy violation was reported in October 2022.
During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office gained information and found evidence that Smith provided a cell phone to at least one inmate. Smith was immediately terminated on October 14, 2022.
Smith of Fayetteville, NC, received a $2500.00 unsecured bond.
Her first appearance is at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
