A 25-year-old Florida woman is facing a felony attempted murder charge after police allege she set her Tinder date on fire, according to reports.
Destiny Lenai Johnson was arrested late last month and charged with three felonies, including attempted murder, first-degree arson, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Johnson was arrested on Nov. 25 after police allege she became irate with her Tinder date, setting him and his car on fire outside a Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Kendall.
Miami-Dade court records show Johnson pleaded not guilty and Judge Lody Jean ordered her to not contact the alleged victim.
Johnson was also denied bail on Tuesday, court records show. She is currently still being held in custody at the Miami-Dade County’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Johnson and her alleged victim arranged to meet up at the hotel when she allegedly approached his car carrying what appeared to be a one-gallon jug of liquid.
She asked her date for money to fix her car and then allegedly began yelling “You guys are out to get me” before pouring gasoline into the passenger side of his SUV, lighting the inside of the car on fire with a lighter, the arrest report claims.
Both she and the alleged victim caught on fire. Johnson allegedly ran away, the man reportedly told police, before he ran to the hotel’s front desk for help and was soon taken to a local hospital where he was treated for burns, the arrest report states.
Police allegedly found Johnson naked and talking about having blown up a car hours later.
She was also taken to a local hospital and treated for her burns, the outlet reports, citing the arrest report.
