RawNews1st – A Chicago fifth grade teacher has been arrested after informing one of her students that she had a “kill list” of children and colleagues, according to police.
The East Chicago Police Department said 25-year-old Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, of Griffith, was taken into custody at her home on Thursday morning around 11:15 a.m. EDT.
Police said they responded to St. Stanislaus School after they received a report about a threat at the school on Wednesday evening.
The principal and assistant principal told officers a fifth-grade student informed a counselor that their teacher made comments “about killing herself, students, and staff” at the school.Â
Police said school leaders told them Carrasquillo-Torres was escorted into the principal’s office and admitted she made a list.Â
Authorities added that they were “not made aware of the situation until 4 hours later after the teacher was allowed to leave.”
Police said the case remains an active investigation.
Note: While discussing the matter in the office the teacher allegedly admitted to the Principal that she did in fact make those statements to the student and confirmed that she did have a ‘kill list,'” said police.
