According to a new report from The Atlantic’s editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, he gained access to a group chat on Signal featuring Trump administration officials like Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

In the group chat, officials talked about and went back-and-forth on details of attacks targeting Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to Goldberg’s reporting.

Hegseth has previously stated that the attacks in Yemen, which struck several targets over the course of three days beginning on March 15, were included in an “unrelenting” campaign until the Houthis halted their attacking of vessels in the Red Sea, which is an important maritime corridor.

Goldberg reported that Vance said in the chat that he believed the strikes were “a mistake,” saying that 3 percent of U.S. trade moves through the Suez Canal, while 40 percent of European trade moves through the canal.

“There is a real risk that the public doesn’t understand this or why it’s necessary. The strongest reason to do this is, as POTUS said, to send a message,” Vance reportedly said. 

“I am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now,” he reportedly continued, stating that the attacks could result in oil prices going up. 

Just two days before the attacks in Yemen, Trump made a threat to place a 200 percent tariff on wine, Champagne and other alcohol coming in via Europe in the case of the European Union not removing a tariff on whiskey.

“If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES.

This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S.” Trump said on his Truth Social platform at the time.

Pentagon Demands Iraq Dismantle Resistance Factions: Report

Both Israel and the US have threatened to bomb Iraq due to the support given by Shia armed factions for Gaza and Yemen

Washington has demanded that Iraq disarm and dismantle Shia resistance factions in the country, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on 21 March.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued the demand to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani during a phone call last Sunday,

The source stressed that “this issue is of special interest to the administration of [US] President Donald Trump.”

Sudani informed the US side that his government is working to address this issue through ongoing dialogue with the armed factions, known collectively as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), the source added.

With backing from Iran, IRI factions have launched multiple missile and drone attacks against Israel in the past 18 months in response to Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

The crash happened at the West Coast Air Show in Saldanha, a town about 70 miles north of Cape Town, on Saturday.

Seconds later, a massive explosion could be seen over the tops of the structures it fell behind.

Black smoke rose into the air in a shocking plume.

Organisers of the West Coast Air Show said a fatal accident occurred involving the Impala Mark 1 aircraft.

It was piloted by highly respected South African test pilot James O’Connell.

According to Elowayne Gouws, the director of West Coast Medical Rescue, the pilot died on impact.

It burst into flames in front of more than 2,000 spectators, abruptly ending the event.

Tragic photos on social media show the jet just hours before it crashed.

The man who took the photo posted: ‘Heartbreaking afternoon.

‘I took these photos of this Impala aircraft just hours before it tragically crashed at the West Coast Air Show. 

‘My deepest condolences to the pilot’s family. May he rest in peace.’

A statement posted on social media by the organisers of the show read: ‘It is with profound sadness that the organisers of the West Coast Airshow confirm a fatal accident involving James O’Connell, a highly skilled and respected test pilot from South Africa.

‘Mr O’Connell was performing a routine display intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the Impala Mark 1 – a beloved warbird with deep historical significance for many South Africans.

While the IRS reports that most eligible taxpayers have already received their payments or credits, those who have yet filed their 2021 tax returns may still qualify.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced plans in December 2024 to automatically issue payments to individuals who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.

Eligible taxpayers must file their returns and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit by the April 15, 2025, deadline. Payments will vary depending on individual circumstances, with a maximum payment of $1,400 per person. 

The IRS estimates the total payments to amount to approximately $2.4 billion.

The IRS estimates that more than $1 billion in refunds remain unclaimed by taxpayers who have not filed their Form 1040, Federal Income Tax Return, for the 2021 tax year.

The revenue collection agency estimates the median refund amount is $781 for 2021. This estimate does not include the Recovery Rebate Credit or other credits that may be applicable.

Under the law, taxpayers usually have three years to file and claim their tax refunds. If they don’t file within three years, the money becomes the property of the U.S. Treasury.

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump expressed support for the idea of returning a portion of savings from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to U.S. citizens as a form of dividend.

Processed food makes up 58% of the average American diet — and the UK isn’t far behind. In the United States, more than 40% of people are obese and 10% are morbidly obese.

Their high-calorie mix of refined carbs, fats, salt, and sugar—rarely found in nature—triggers cravings and overeating.

One study shows that people consuming ultra-processed diets eat an extra 1,000 calories per day compared to those on minimally processed diets. In particular, “hyperpalatable” foods like french fries strongly activate the brain’s reward system, making them especially addictive.

In particular, he has criticized the scale of additives in the American food supply, which have been shown to increase the risk of chronic health conditions, cancer, and fatty liver disease. He has also noted that U.S. food products often contain additives that are banned in Europe.

The UK follows closely behind America, with 57% of adults’ diets consisting of ultra-processed foods. More concerningly, this share jumps to 65% for children. Overall, the most popular ultra-processed foods in the UK are factory-made bread and pre-packaged meals.

As we can see, ultra-processed food diets are not exclusive to Western countries. In countries like South Africa, Mexico, and Japan, they make up at least 28% of total calaries consumed.

5 Kids In Broad Daylight Shootout Over Jordan Sneakers In Memphis. One Shooter Looked No Older Than 10 Years Old.

FOX13 obtained shocking surveillance footage of a shootout in the middle of the day on the streets of Raleigh. A child, who appears to be no older than 10 years old, was caught in the middle of the violence.

The Memphis Police Department reported a group of five people, including the small child, tried to rob a man of his shoes, then tried to fight him when he refused to hand them over. The victim allegedly ran into a convenience store and hid behind the counter.

The disturbing scene played out last Friday on Yale Road between Raleigh and Bartlett. According to investigators, it started with an attempted robbery over a pair of shoes.

After the group of suspects stepped back out of the store, a surveillance camera captured a person rolling down the window of a nearby car and opening fire at the group.

The suspects were seen taking cover behind another car to get away from the bullets. Some members of the group then pulled guns of their own and returned fire, chasing the car into the street as it drove away.

The victim eventually left the store, but did not make it far. While he was walking up the street, the group of suspects allegedly pulled up next to him in a black car and accused him of “snitching” on them.

The victim was spotted on another camera running away, then jumping a fence into a yard where two small children were playing. “Let me in, let me in, let me in please!” the victim is heard begging the children as they run inside.

The violence, though, was not over yet.

U.S. Marshals arrested a fugitive hundreds of miles away who they said is the member of a Venezuelan street gang.

The Department of Justice announced that the suspect, 32-year-old Ricardo Gonzales, was arrested Thursday in Cobb County, Georgia during a multi-agency operation.

Investigators said he’s a high-ranking member of the Tren De Aragua Venezuelan gang.

He had an arrest warrant from the Chicago Police Department for kidnapping and was wanted on probable cause for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

The charges stem from a shooting in Chicago on January 28.

Gonzales is accused of kidnapping three women and taking them to an alley near 78th and Oglesby in the South Shore neighborhood, where they were shot in the head. Two of the women died at the scene, Chicago police said.

The surviving victim escaped after being shot in the face and chest, and doorbell video showed her going door to door for help.

“I couldn’t imagine who would do that to a person, and I didn’t know why they would do that to her,” McKinney said. “I didn’t know what she did, or what. It was just horrible. It was a horrible morning. I’ll never forget it.”

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified one of the slain victims as 37-year-old Oriana Rodriguez.

USMS Acting Director Mark Pittella said in a statement, “This case is a reflection of the tireless work the U.S. Marshal Service and partnering agencies put in to make sure justice has its day in court.”

Neighborhood resident Elaine McKinney answered her door to help the victim, and someone from the neighborhood called police.

According to the Kentucky State Police, 28-year-old Harlee Estepp was arrested for “inappropriate communications with a minor.” They said the investigation into Estepp started in 2022.

Ashland Independent Schools Superintendent Sean Howard told 13 News that he was a teacher, a track and field coach, and an assistant football coach. Howard said he has been suspended with pay.

The KSP said why Estepp is being investigated happened before starting his current job.

He is facing charges of first-degree sexual abuse and procuring or promoting the use of a minor through electronic means. He is being held in the Carter County Detention Center.
