The first of two atmospheric river storms expected this week rolled into the Bay Area with the heaviest impact felt in the North Bay.

The storm has led to downed trees, road closures, dangerous driving conditions, and a number of power outages across the region.

A separate power outage in Santa Clara is impacting dozens, possibly hundreds of customers, according to Silicon Valley power. The outage, which is occurring in the area of Homestead Road and Pomeroy Avenue, is impacting between 50 and 249 customers.

An outage centered around Corte Madera is impacting 4,621 customers, according to PG&E. The outage, which is believed to be weather related, is impacting the following areas:

• Horse Hill
• Larkspur Marina
• Madera Gardens

“Our meteorologists have been working round the clock, keeping an eye on all the weather that’s coming our way,” said PGE spokesperson John Farmer.

“We have daily operations meetings where they let everyone know what’s going on.

And that enables the planning to happen to be able to prepare and respond to whatever Mother Nature throws at us.”

“We’re monitoring rainfall and the evolving forecasts. We’re ready to respond to closed storm drains as needed.

Rain so far has been a half inch, which is well within what we can handle in 24 hours. The public should clear storm drains and monitor them during and after the rains this week,” added Dylan Rivera with the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

Neighbors in Southeast Portland affected by the power outage told KOIN 6 News they were shocked to find a power pole catch fire earlier in the day.

In Seattle, a tree fell onto a vehicle, temporarily trapping someone inside, the Seattle Fire Department reported. The agency later said the person was in stable condition.

“Trees are coming down all over the city & falling onto homes,” Bellevue Fire said in another social media post. “If you can, go to the lowest floor and stay away from windows. Do not go outside if you can avoid it.”

More than 100,000 electricity customers in Washington state were reported to be without power Wednesday afternoon on PowerOutage.us. That figure had dropped significantly from reports earlier in the morning, which reported upwards of 600,000 outages statewide.

California was also experiencing around 30,000 power outages, according to the tracking site.

The number of outage reports had fluctuated wildly Tuesday evening, likely due in part to several weather and utility agencies struggling to report information on the storm because of internet outages and other technical problems.

It wasn’t clear if that figure was accurate. More than 4,000 had lost power in Oregon and nearly 15,000 in California. that Puget Sound Energy said in a statement early Wednesday morning they have nearly a half million customers without power and expect a “multiple day outage.”

Lamar Odom has opened up about his decision to purchase a sex doll resembling Khloe Kardashian.

As previously reported, the former Los Angeles Laker ordered a custom-made doll designed to look like his ex-wife. According to TMZ, Odom’s choice was deeply personal, as explained that he “wanted a likeness of her for his own reasons.”

In a recent episode of the We’re Out of Time podcast, the former NBA star shared his thoughts: “When you’re really thinking about it, [it’s] like a doll. But then you think about mental health, and how important that is. A sex doll that looks like your wife is about mental health.”

That year, only 3.88 million babies were born in the EU, marking the first time the figure fell below 4 million.

The fertility rate also declined, nearing levels last seen two decades ago. The EU had one of the lowest fertility rates in the world, defined as the number of live births per woman.

There has been a downward trend since 1960 in the number of children born in the EU. The lowest number was recorded in 2022 at 3.88 million.

In 1990, 5.1 million babies were born in the EU, marking the last year that births exceeded 5 million.

In 2022, the fertility rate, which reflects the number of live births per woman, significantly varied in the EU, ranging from 1.79 in France to 1.08 in Malta according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

The average for the EU as a whole was 1.46. Including the broader European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the UK, and EU candidate countries, Georgia (1.83) and Moldova (1.81) reported higher rates than France.

While the highest fertility rate is observed in France, a Mediterranean country, other Mediterranean nations like Malta (1.08), Spain (1.16), Italy (1.24), Greece (1.32), and Cyprus (1.37) have notably lower rates.

Slightly higher fertility rates were recorded in countries like Romania (1.71), Turkey (1.63), the UK (1.56), Germany (1.46), and Finland (1.32).

It was 2.35 in 1970, its highest recorded level recorded before slumping to its lowest level in the late 1990s, bottoming out at 1.4 in 1998, according to World Bank data.It then began to rise gradually, reaching a recent peak of 1.57 in 2016.

A man who got probation for domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, then got charged with kidnapping a woman and handcuffing her inside his truck, was released on bond and didn’t show up to court, and is now back in jail.

Court records for Aaron Pruitt says:
2018: Aaron Pruitt was charged in Wagoner County with domestic assault with a dangerous weapon.

July 2023: Pruitt pled guilty and got 8 years suspended. (probation)

July 2024: Charged in Tulsa County with kidnapping.
The arrest report says a woman handcuffed in Pruitt’s truck, got the attention of a person on a motorcycle at a convenience store parking lot and the motorcyclist called police.

The woman told police Pruitt had kidnapped her and held her a week until she escaped, then he found her a couple of hours before officers got to her.
She said Pruitt threatened to shoot her and scalp her if she escaped again.

Pruitt also had fentanyl and meth with him that day.
Pruitt was given a $25,000 bond and while out, got arrested again on another drug case.

Then, he stopped showing up to court on the kidnapping case and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The Wagoner County DA has also asked to revoke Pruitt’s suspended sentence.

The current charges are not convictions.

Fox32Chicago – Arlington police say Jones, 41, was involved in a fight in the bar area of Loews Arlington Hotel, near AT&T Stadium, just after 1 a.m.

An off-duty Arlington police officer working security arrived after the fight had been broken up, but that Jones continued to approach and yell at the other people involved in the fight.

Arlington Police say the female officer told Jones that if he tried to fight again that he would be arrested.

Shortly after, another fight broke out in the bar area involving Jones.

While the officer and hotel security worked to break up the fight, Jones hit the officer on the arm. She then told Jones that she was placing him under arrest for assaulting a peace officer, according to Arlington Police.

While she tried to put Jones in handcuffs, he got free and began to walk away. Other officers arrived and helped take Jones into custody.

Jones is charged with assaulting a peace officer, public intoxication and resisting and evading arrest.

“Like thousands of other people in Dallas last night, Pac was in town for the fight and was enjoying himself, spending time with the fans,” a representative for Jones told TMZ Sports. “Pacman was returning to his hotel to wind down for the evening. He was not looking for trouble.”

The representative says Jones “adamantly denies the allegations and looks forward to explaining the truth when the time comes.”

Instagram posts by Jones show he was in Arlington for the fight.

Jones played in the NFL from 2005 to 2018, playing for the Cowboys in 2008.

Findlay police officer fatally shoots 17-year-old Kalvin Darapheth, after he shoots first at them

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office identified the teen who died as 17-year-old Kalvin Darapheth.

Findlay Police said officers were dispatched to Bernard Park around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 for a report of three juveniles drinking alcoholic beverages. Police said the kids were a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy.

Police said when officers arrived on the scene, Darapheth ran away and an officer began to chase him. During the chase, Darapheth fired two shots toward the officers, and one of the officers returned fire.

During the news conference, police revealed the officer who shot the teen is a four-year veteran of the department.

He fired his weapon eight times. The other responding officer was a 10-year veteran who did not fire their weapon.

But as with any big bet, Buffett’s heavy reliance on Apple has sparked some chatter. Skeptics say putting so many eggs in one tech basket could be risky.

With tech stocks, there’s always the threat of shifting consumer trends, not to mention the occasional market shake-up. 

And while Apple has shown impressive gains this year, the latest numbers hint at a slight cooling. In the last fiscal year, Apple’s total revenue dipped by 0.8% – a small shift but enough to raise eyebrows.

Still, Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring believes Apple has room to climb, setting a price target of $273, which would mark a 20% rise from current levels.

Apple’s pivot toward services is holding it steady. Though iPhone sales may ebb and flow, Apple’s revenues from the App Store, streaming and cloud services have grown by 23% over the past few years. 

Services have also helped Apple boost its profit margins, going from 43.3% in 2022 to 46.2% in 2024, catching Wall Street’s attention. These margins and the cash flow from services make Apple’s high share prices easier to swallow, especially as it could mean bigger dividends for shareholders.

Then there’s Coca-Cola, which stands out as Buffett’s textbook choice. It’s familiar, steady and beloved worldwide.

His initial investment in Coca-Cola in the late ‘80s has since grown to a $27.67 billion stake and despite recent bumps – like a 12% drop from September’s peak – investors still see value here.

The Cradle – Top Israeli Court Rejects Netanyahu’s Request To Delay Criminal Trial

The prime minister has been repeatedly accused of prolonging the Gaza war to avoid prosecution on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust

The Jerusalem District Court rejected on 13 November a request made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to delay his testimony in his corruption trial by 10 weeks.

The court said the premier has already had five months to prepare for his testimony, which is scheduled for 2 December.

“We were not convinced that a substantial change in circumstances has occurred which would justify a change to the date we set in our [original] decision.” As a result, Netanyahu will be forced to take the stand.

Hours prior to the court ruling, a representative of the Israeli State Attorney’s Office, Yehudit Tirosh, said the “prime minister can’t dictate the schedule for his trial and testimony.”

…Netanyahu’s legal team filed the request for delay at the Jerusalem District Court earlier this week, arguing that certain security incidents occurred during the time in which the premier was supposed to prepare, making the testimony impossible.

After the start of the war in October last year, Netanyahu’s trial was put on hold before resuming in early December 2023.

The Israeli prime minister has been accused of and charged with fraud, bribery, and breach of trust in three separate cases filed in 2019. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years.

Many, including Israelis opposed to the premier and his policies, have accused Netanyahu of seeking to prolong the war in Gaza in order to avoid trial and potential imprisonment.

13WGME – The incident was first reported last Wednesday when Hannaford said some stores and pharmacies were experiencing a “network issue”.

More than a week after Hannaford supermarkets were impacted by a cybersecurity incident, many of the grocer’s online services remain down.

Two days later the chain’s parent company, Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize, confirmed it had detected a “cybersecurity issue” within its US network and took some systems offline to protect them.

While the supermarket chain said stores have remained open while they work to fix the problem, online services like Hannaford’s website, its app and “To Go” ordering system have been unavailable.

Hannaford’s last update to customers was posted on Facebook last Friday where they said “recovery efforts are still underway” and that they apologize for the inconvenience this incident has caused.

However, it remains unclear how much longer the online services will remain unavailable and what the wider impact of this cybersecurity situation may be.

Hannaford and its parent company didn’t directly answer emailed questions from the CBS13 I-Team asking for more details about when online services will be restored and if any customer or employee data was compromised as a result of the incident.

Instead, a spokesperson for Ahold Delhaize provided the following statement:

“Ahold Delhaize USA’s brands’ stores are open and serving our customers. While we have largely returned to providing the level of support that our customers expect across our brands, certain customers may still experience service delays or interruptions. Beyond that, we would refer you to the press release Ahold Delhaize issued on Friday, Nov. 8.”

The grocery giant previously said it had notified law enforcement of this cybersecurity issue.

At least eight people were killed and 17 injured in a stabbing incident Saturday evening at a vocational school in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi.

The statement said that the suspect was a recent graduate and was motivated by “failing [an] exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation.” An investigation is ongoing.

Around 6:30 p.m. on November 16, 2024, a stabbing incident that resulted in casualties occurred at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, causing 8 deaths and injuring another 17, The suspect was apprehended on the scene.

Last Monday, 35 people were killed after a car plowed into pedestrians who were exercising in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai, injuring over 40 people. As news of the attack spread, censors swooped in to take down online videos of the attack and moderate social media discussions

In October, police arrested a 50-year-old man after a stabbing attack near an elementary school in Beijing injured five people, including three children.

In September, three people were killed and 15 others injured in a knife attack at a suburban supermarket in Shanghai.

Also in September, a bus crashed into a crowd of students and parents outside a school in Tai’an city in Shandong province, killing 11 people and injuring 13 others. Chinese authorities did not reveal whether it was accidental or deliberate.

The attack is the latest mass casualty incident to hit China.
