WHO: Jericho Haverstick

Eliza Arthurs was 22 years old on April 19th, 2023, when Jericho Haverstick shot her through the head as she sat on the ground in a secluded field.

He used a 9mm handgun he’d purchased nine days earlier.
Eliza told him she didn’t want to marry him and didn’t want to be with him anymore.

Haverstick left her on a mound of dirt covered in ants, gasping for breath while he drove around for more than half an hour.

Eventually, he called 911 saying she’d been shot by an unknown man.
The dispatcher asked if the victim was breathing and if he would try CPR, but Haverstick said she was not breathing.

The jury listened to the call and could hear Eliza’s panicked, gasping breaths on the recording.

When first responders arrived, Haverstick would not open the gate into the field where she lay dying, so, emergency workers had to climb the fence to get to her.

Her family and friends were devastated as they listened to the final moments of Eliza’s life being described in court.

Rogers County District Attorney Matt Ballard told the jury,
“Eliza Arthurs had every right to break up with Haverstick and go live the rest of her life without him.

Without suffering violence. But he wouldn’t let her.”

“On behalf of Mr. Haverstick, we are disappointed in the outcome of this trial. While we greatly appreciate the jury’s time and attention to this case, we truly feel that the result was far removed from the actual evidence presented by the State.

Just an example, the M.E. stated that they did not see any recognizable ant bites which wholly contradicts and undermines a basic fact and testimony of the first responders.

Moreover, the statement that you could hear Ms. Arthurs’ “panicked” breaths on the 911 call is completely contradictory to the testimony of the Medical Examiner.

For those, and many other reasons, we respectfully disagree with the characterization of facts and testimony at trial and anticipate an appeal.”

She leaves behind a 3-year-old son.
Eliza’s family thanked the jurors for their work and shook their hands as they left the courtroom.

This is now a conviction.

Atlanta, GA – Comedian Druski was pulled over after allegedly running a stop sign, but things took a turn when officers discovered his license had been suspended since July 2024.

Bodycam footage shows Druski confused while trying to confirm his insurance and calling for help.

After verifying his insurance, police still had to arrest him due to a missed court appearance tied to his suspended license. He was booked but released within hours.

According to the FBI report, there are some popular ways the scams were carried out. They include extortion In one investment fraud tactic called “pig butchering,” scammers target victims online and develop relationships before introducing a fraudulent opportunity for cryptocurrency investment.

Personal data breaches were also common.

The FBI analyzed trends from more than 850,000 complaints of suspected internet crime last year and found that cryptocurrency fraud was one of the top cyber crimes in 2024.

The 2024 Internet Crime Report, published Wednesday by the FBI, revealed that the Volunteer State lost more than $82 million to cryptocurrency scams last year.

“From the reports that we’ve seen, on average, it’s been about $5,000 lost to these types of scams, and usually the age group is 35 and up,” said Lorneth Peters, vice president of marketing engagement for the BBB of Middle Tennessee.

“We are unable to track where the money went, [or] who you sent the money to; tracking that information is somewhat complex.”

FBI data also showed that people aged 60 and over submitted the most complaints to the agency. That age group also suffered the most losses after falling victim to cryptocurrency fraud.

Nationwide data revealed a 33% increase in losses from the year prior.

However, the FBI isn’t the only agency that has been tracking scams — so has the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee.

“With the advent of AI and everything else, it’s going to get tougher,” Todd said.

The FBI also has tips on protecting yourself:

• Don’t invest with someone you don’t know and have only met online.
• If an investment sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
• Confirm that what you’re investing in is valid.

Vancouver police investigate a crime scene after a man drove into pedestrians at the annual Lapu Lapu festival celebrating Filipino culture, at East 43rd Avenue and Fraser, in the south of Vancouver on April 26, 2025. 

The suspect, a 30-year-old Vancouver man, was arrested at the scene and has been taken into custody.

Canadian police arrested a man on April 26 after a car plowed into a street party in the western city of Vancouver killing a number of people.

Authorities said the incident happened shortly after 8:00 pm (0300 GMT Sunday) in Vancouver’s Sunset on Fraser neighborhood as members of the Filipino community gathered to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day.

During the press conference, Rai said it was believed the man was acting alone and he is someone who was “known to police in certain circumstances,” the news service reported.

Multiple videos posted online appear to show victims and debris strewn on a long stretch of road, with several people lying on the ground of the South Vancouver neighborhood.

The vehicle driven by the man, a black SUV, had a crumpled front.

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said in a post on X that he was shocked and deeply saddened by the incident.

“We will work to provide more information as soon as we can, but at this time @VancouverPD have confirmed there are a number of fatalities and multiple injuries,” Sim said.

“Our thoughts are will all those affected and with Vancouver’s Filipino community during this time.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also said he was devastated to hear the news and said he was monitoring the situation closely.

“I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured, to the Filipino Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver,” Carney said online. “We are all mourning with you.”

A 10-year-old California girl was kidnapped by a man who communicated with her through Roblox and Discord, two wildly popular online gaming platforms for children.

The girl’s family reported her missing to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 10 a.m. on April 13.

Family members told deputies that the girl was last seen the night before, when she was at home. She vanished between bedtime and the next morning.

Sheriff’s detectives searched the girl’s digital devices and accounts on Roblox and Discord. Her online communications revealed that a 27-year-old man, Matthew Macatuno Naval, had exchanged messages with her.

Naval lives in Elk Grove, Calif. in Sacramento County, 300 miles north from the girl’s home in Kern County.

“It was suspected that the victim was communicating with Naval through Roblox and Discord, leading to their abduction,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

Detectives alerted the Elk Grove Police Department. EGPD officers found Naval with the 10-year-old girl at a strip mall in Elk Grove.

“The juvenile was located and temporarily taken into protective custody until released back to their family,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

On April 13 at 3:35 p.m., Naval was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor child.

7-year-old hit and killed in autoped collision in East Tulsa

On April 16th, 2025, around 5:20 p.m., Officers responded to multiple calls about an auto-pedestrian collision on 21st Street just west of Memorial.

Through the investigation, Officers learned the 7-year-old male victim, along with several other children, were walking north, attempting to cross 21st.

Traffic in the eastbound inside lane saw the group of kids and stopped to allow them to cross.

Another driver behind the stopped traffic changed lanes to avoid the stopped traffic and hit the 7-year-old male.

The vehicle’s driver immediately stopped and cooperated with Officers on the scene.

First responders performed lifesaving measures on the victim on the scene, and paramedics took him to the hospital. Tragically, he died a short time later.

Traffic Officers will complete a full investigation into the collision.
