FedEx driver arrested after $62K in stolen packages found in storage unit
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said on February 13, property theft detectives were informed of a theft that was originally reported on February 11 involving a FedEx package that was never delivered.
An investigation led detectives to identify Tyran Jackson, 27, as the delivery driver.
The investigation determined that the stolen package was being kept in a storage unit in the 10500 block of Perkins Road, prompting detectives to secure a search warrant for the unit.
When the warrant was executed, detectives recovered approximately $62,000 worth of stolen FedEx merchandise from the storage unit.
Following the search and inventory, Jackson was located and taken into custody.
Jackson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
“The safety and security of our customers’ shipments is a top priority,” FedEx said in a statement to FOX Television Stations. “We are fully cooperating with authorities in their investigation, and this individual is no longer providing services on behalf of FedEx.”
