FBI surveillance teams deployed INSIDE Portland protests
The FBI reportedly inserted undercover surveillance teams within the Portland protest movement, to such an extent a source within the Bureau likened it to 1950s overreach and COINTELPRO – a series of covert and illegal projects.
Officers secretly recorded and followed protestors to the fury of civil rights groups. “These are all insidious tactics that chill First Amendment expression and erode trust with local officials,” said a civil rights exec. director in Oregon.
Senator Ron Wyden pushed the DoJ to explain the FBI’s actions.”What were they there for? Were they there primarily to chill peaceful protesters, or were they there to protect federal property?”
