FBI investigating alleged assault on female soldier at Fort Bliss refugee camp by multiple Afghans
The FBI is currently investigating an incident involving one female Fort Bliss soldier and several male Afghan refugees at the Army’s Doña Ana Complex camp where thousands of Afghans are being housed, officials told ABC-7 Friday.
“We can confirm a female service member supporting Operation Allies Welcome reported being assaulted on September 19 by a small group of male evacuees at the Doña Ana Complex in New Mexico,” said Lt. Col. Allie Payne, director of Public Affairs for Fort Bliss.
The assaulted soldier has received medical care and counseling after the incident. Payne declined to give further details regarding the assault due to the ongoing FBI investigation.
