Jermaine Johnson, 43, of Haddonfield, was arrested by the US Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force at a city home on May 18 and was been charged with first degree robbery and weapons offenses, according to a joint release from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Voorhees Police Department.
His son, Safeek Johnson, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested Monday by the US Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force at the intersection of Rockland Road and Old York Road in Philadelphia, the office said. He was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest and was also charged with first degree robbery and weapons offenses in connection with the bank robbery.
One of the men allegedly entered the Fulton Bank on Haddonfield-Berlin Road at 11:06 a.m. on April 26 armed with a handgun, went into the vault area and made off with a “large amount” of cash, police said.
The exact amount was not released Monday night and it was unclear which of the two men actually entered the vault. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office could not immediately be reached for comment.
Surveillance photos showed the man wearing black and white New Balance sneakers, black pants with two thin, white stripes down the sides, a black camouflage hoodie, and a tan backpack, officials said.
Jermaine was being held in the Camden County Jail where he awaited trial and Safeek was detained in Philadelphia pending extradition to New Jersey, authorities said.
Anyone with additional information about the robbery is asked to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Tanner Ogilvie at 856-650-6398 or Voorhees Police Detective Christopher Tomasco at 856-627-5858.
