(Fayetteville, NC) – On October 28th, 2022 at approximately 1:35 PM, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to a pedestrian struck along the 3500 block of Carlson Bay Circle.
Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian identified as Mark E. Morris (White male, 46 years of age) that had been struck by an oncoming vehicle as he was walking across the parking lot.
Mr. Morris was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Mr. Morris’s family was notified.
The preliminary investigation revealed a gold Nissan Altima operated by Sukara WIGGS (Black female, 18 years of age) was traveling at a high rate of speed leaving the apartment complex when she fatally struck Mr. Morris and fled the scene. Mr. Morris and WIGGS did not know each other.

Through the collaborative efforts the Fayetteville Police Departments Traffic Unit and Community Empowerment Response Team, WIGGS and the vehicle she was operating at the time of the fatality were located.
On October 31st, 2022 WIGGS was arrested and charged with Felony Hit & Run Serious Injury/Death, Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle and Failure to Reduce Speed. WIGGS is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention under a 20,000 secured bond.
