Facebook unveils US state election features – targeting misinformation and voter suppression
Facebook claims it will use independent fact-checkers to review and rate potentially false content about the upcoming US state elections on its platform, despite past criticism about apparently not taking strong enough action against Trump supporters.
The platform insisted in a blog post that it will provide users with “reliable election information in their News Feed and working closely with state election authorities to identify and stop potential voter suppression”.
Users in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington will be sent reminders about how and when to vote.
