Facebook facing up to €36 MILLION FINE over PERSONAL DATA processing
A huge fine of €28 million to €36 million has been proposed for the platform in Ireland for violations of EU data law.
The complaint was lodged by an Austrian privacy activist and calls out Facebook’s processing of personal data, specifically around its terms of service. (Draft decision published on Wednesday via Politico)
It’s one of dozens of probes opened into the social media giant by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, which is the lead regulator of Facebook under the EU’s “One Stop Shop” data regime, due to the location of its HQ in Ireland.
FB could really use the luck of the Irish.
