New York -Erik Fry bludgeoned his Amanda Harvey girlfriend to death with a hammer.
Fry and Amanda have been in a long-term relationship, living together in a house on Julius Street in Warren County, Michigan.
On November 28, 2021, the day before the murder, a friend called the police to check on the couple stating they were worried about their friend. Police checked out the house and concluded that there was nothing criminal taking place.
Fry had been arrested four times on domestic abuse charges, with one ending in a conviction. His last arrest for domestic abuse had been in October 2021.
His court appearance for that case was scheduled to take place the day after he killed Amanda.
Police believe the altercation between the couple started over drugs. At the moment is unclear exactly what had transpired between Fry and Amanda, but it is believed that he bludgeoned her to death with a hammer. After the murder, Fry called 911 and told an operator that he’d “just killed a woman”.
Amanda’s mother, Nancy Elliot, stated that Amanda had been dead in the house for two days before Fry called the police. She also told news outlets there was a “stay away” order placed between the couple due to the domestic violence charges.
She could not find shelter and was staying with Fry. Amanda had lived in Rochester, NY for 30 years until she met Fry. The couple moved to Michigan about 5 years prior to the murder.
Fry is being held without bail for first degree murder at the Macomb County Jail.
