EMA lists rare spinal condition as side-effect of J&J Covid-19 jab

Europe’s drug regulator recommended adding a rare type of spinal inflammation called transverse myelitis as a side-effect of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose coronavirus vaccine on Thursday.

The serious neurological illness was also reportedly the basis of trial halts in the early stages of development for both AstraZeneca and J&J’s shots – both use similar technology.

The European Medicines Agency also said it was assessing reports of a rare blood condition known as capillary leak syndrome – following inoculation with Moderna’s vaccine, after 6 cases were reported.
