Drug Resistance: Simple Infections Kill Millions Yearly

Infections resistant to antibiotics killed more than 1.2MN people in 2019, a new study published in the Lancet has revealed.

Researchers have found out that the practice of using antibiotics for trivial infections has made them less effective, as harmful bacteria become resistant to treatment – developing what’s known as antimicrobial resistance

In 2019, AMR infections killed more people than malaria or Aids, and the issue most seriously affects poorer nations.
