RawNews1st – The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is committed to addressing illegal drug activity in the community. In March, TPD began a months-long investigation after receiving an anonymous tip regarding several suspects engaged in a drug trafficking organization.
Following a thorough investigation, probable cause was developed and a search warrant was obtained for two involved residences.
On Sept. 1, members of TPD’s General Narcotics Unit, Drug Interdiction Unit, Technical Operations Unit, Violent Crimes Response Team, and Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving Squad executed a search warrant at each residence.
During a search of the residence in the 5300 block of Falling Star Drive, detectives located nearly 40 pounds of high-THC cannabis, 156 THC vape cartridges, 240 grams of amphetamine pills, oxycodone pills, psilocybin mushrooms, five firearms, and more than $22,000 in cash.
A search of the second residence, located in the 3900 block of Remer Court, yielded an additional 300 grams of cannabis packaged for selling.
Detectives subsequently took three individuals into custody for several drug-related charges.
The success of this operation is a testament to TPD’s effort to address drug-related issues that have the potential to decrease safety and the overall quality of life for the citizens of Tallahassee.
