On February 8, police discovered a 53-year-old woman on the ground near the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Dempster Street.
She was taken to Evanston Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit due to her injuries.
The 53-year-old Evanston woman was crossing Chicago Avenue at the intersection of Dempster Street on Feb. 8 when she was struck by a white SUV, police said on Tuesday.
At the time, the woman was taken to Evanston Hospital and admitted to intensive care, but was unable to tell police what had happened, police said.
At the time, the woman said she believed she fell because of a medical event, police said. But the woman’s daughter contacted police on Saturday to inform detectives that her mother had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
Police said the woman’s daughter was able to produce surveillance footage of the incident that showed her mother being hit by a white or lighter-colored SUV resembling a Nissan Rogue, police said on Tuesday.
