8/5/2022- 7:29 p.m.
San Diego Fire-Rescue along with the California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle accident on the Westbound SR-94 freeway just East of 30th St.
Upon arrival, they encountered an overturned Ford Explorer in the #1 lane of the highway.
Upon further investigation, they found a person that was pinned partially under the vehicle.
Firefighters worked to free the trapped victim.
After several minutes, firefighters managed to free the person but declared the person deceased on scene.
A passport belonging to a woman was recovered from the vehicle along with other woman’s personal belongings. The identity of the person that perished has not been released.
The California Highway Patrol will be investigating. Several lanes of the freeway have been closed due to the accident.
