DOZENS FINED OVER ILLEGAL CHURCH GATHERING
Police have issued over $30,000 in fines after dozens of people attended an illegal sermon in Sydney’s west.
Officers attended a church on Fourth Avenue in Blacktown just before 7.30pm last night, where they found a group of roughly 60 adults and children participating in the sermon.
There was no QR code check-in system present at the church’s entry and parishioners were from a number of other hotspot LGAs, including Canterbury-Bankstown, Fairfield and Liverpool.
30 adults were each issued with a $1,000 Penalty Infringement Notice, while the church received a $5,000 PIN for failing to comply with public health orders.
