Canada – Several areas of the downtown core are without power Thursday, with many sharing their stories on social media.
In a tweet Thursday Toronto Police said the cause of the outage was unknown and told residents to “Remember to treat intersections as a 4-way stop if traffic signal lights are out.”
Videos circulating social media showed traffic lights and the usually lit-up screens at Yonge and Dundas Square switched off. Shops at the Eaton Centre shuttered their doors amid the outage as people walked up and down out of service escalators, another video showed.
According to the TTC, the outage affects a four-block radius from College to Harbour streets and from York to Sherbourne streets.
According to police, Toronto Hydro is aware of the situation but have yet to comment.
