Double Dose of Inequality” Amnesty LASHES OUT at Big Pharma for Fuelling Human Rights Crisis
Amnesty International accused six pharmaceutical Covid vaccine developers of inflaming an unprecedented human rights crisis – warning Big Pharma should not be putting profit before people’s lives, with the six set to make $130bn combined in 2022.
Less than 1% of the almost 6bn doses of coronavirus vaccine administered worldwide has gone to low-income nations, according to Amnesty’s report published Wednesday.
Amnesty cited AstraZeneca’s, BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer’s REFUSAL to waive intellectual property rights, share vaccine tech and boost global vaccine supply for “causing tens of thousands of deaths every week.”
Ahead of Biden’s global Covid summit, Amnesty threw down the gauntlet to nations and Big Pharma – calling for 2 BILLION vaccines to be delivered to low and lower-middle income countries by the end of the year.
