Federal authorities say a Romanian national named Ciprian Borcea was using a fake Italian passport and installed skimming devices on Dollar Bank ATMs in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
In all, more than $450,000 was taken from the accounts of 700 bank customers.
The man federal authorities say is responsible for stealing from Dollar Bank customers in the region is now in custody.
Federal authorities say a Romanian national named Ciprian Borcea was using a fake Italian passport and installed skimming devices on Dollar Bank ATMs in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Agents say when they made the arrest the man identified himself as Giovani Mancini of Italy. However, when agents brought in an Italian translator, the suspect didn’t understand Italian.
Borcea is due in court later this month.
