Ditch Chinese Phones!” Lithuania calls on citizens to get shot of devices
Lithuania’s Defense Ministry has urged anyone with a Xiaomi mobile to throw it away after their National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) detected censorship software that it claims can be activated remotely.
NCSC analysts claim phrases including “demonstration”, “free Tibet”, “long live Taiwan independence”, and “church” can be flagged, raising concerns of interference.
Beijing requested Lithuania withdraw its ambassador last month, and recalled its own from Vilnius, after Taiwan announced its own mission in Lithuania.
