MAN CUTS OFF OWN PENIS: Disturbed Man Dies After Allegedly Cutting Off His Penis in Bloody Los Angeles Scene
A man died after allegedly cutting off his own penis in downtown Los Angeles, police and witnesses said.
The bloody incident unfolded around 3:40 a.m. Saturday morning across from the LA Convention Center, where responding officers found man self-mutilating near the intersection of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A journalist for OnScene TV who captured the gruesome scene reported that the man bled to death after cutting off his penis. Police would not confirm that detail.
The LAPD did not know the man’s motivation for hurting himself and said the LA County Medical Examiner would determine his identity.
Footage from the scene showed a white tent over the man’s body next to a pool of blood on the sidewalk.
Clothes were seen scattered on the ground nearby next to even more blood.
The journalist at the scene said the man had taken off his clothing as he was walking toward a 7/11 before collapsing.
