Dianna Brice, 21, was shot multiple times before being burned in the trunk of a vehicle. She was 14 weeks pregnant with her second child. Justin Smith has been charged but is still at large.
He is considered armed and dangerous. The FBI is offering a reward up to $25,000 for information leading to Smith’s location and arrest.
On March 30, 2021, Dianna Brice was reported missing. Brice She was last seen at the K Laundry on Church Lane in Lansdowne.
Brice had told her mother Justin Smith was taking her to the pharmacy, then they were going to drive into Philadelphia.
Later, Justin Smith would tell Brice’s family she took off after an argument. Hours later, Smith’s car was found engulfed in flames.
According to a source, a week later, a homeless woman walking her dog found Brice’s remains between the tires of a trailer in Eastwick Avenue in Philadelphia. Brice was found about a mile from Smith’s burning car.
Through search efforts, investigators located surveillance video that recorded Tylydiah Garnett, a friend of Justin Smith’s, purchasing a can of gasoline. She would then meet up with Smith.
Investigators believe after Justin Smith picked up Dianna Brice, he shot her in the head multiple times in his vehicle.
He then drove to a garage and called Garnett, who purchased a can of gas. The pair met and loaded Dianna’s body into the trunk and drove it to Eastwick Avenue before setting it on fire.
They then drove to Eastwick, where they dumped Brice’s remains. Lastly, they would drop Smith’s car near Florence Avenue and 59th Street and also set it on fire. Smith and Garnett then fled.
Police arrested Garnett in Miami, Florida on April 10, 2021. She was charged with arson, criminal conspiracy, use of a communication facility, and abuse of a corpse.
The judge granted her a $75,000 bail term, which she posted.
Justin Smith was charged on April 9, 2021, for murder, first-degree murder of an unborn child, arson, and abuse of a corpse. He remains at large. According to the FBI, Smith has connections in Greensboro, North Carolina, New Castle, Delaware, and the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami, Florida.
