Devonte Johnson, 29, arrested for murder

RawNews1st – Around 3:00 pm The Longview Police Department arrested a murder suspect, 29-year-old Lederrion Devonte Johnson, for the shooting death of Rashaan Jefferson at the Preserve Apartments on August 8, 2022.
Johnson was located at Motel 6 located at 419 North Spur 63. The Longview SWAT Team responded to the location and arrested Johnson was taken without incident after a brief standoff.
Suspect was extremely dangerous and not to be approached please call 911.
Johnson was arrested on one count of Murder, one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Original Post: Longview, TX: On August 8, 2022, at about 9:25 p.m., Longview Police Officers responded to a shooting that had just occurred at the Preserve Apartments located at 600 West Avalon Ave. Officers learned a teenage male victim had been shot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival and later succumbed to his injuries. This is an active investigation with detectives still gathering information.
